The rising star of civil titanium products

2020-10-29 11:52:08

Titanium is a kind of magic metal. As early as 1795, the German chemist Klaprus discovered titanium, but in the following century, the purification technology of titanium metal developed slowly. It was not until 1910 that the American chemist Hunter began to oxidize titanium. Pure titanium (99.9) is extracted from it.

Pure titanium is about twice as strong as aluminum, while steel with similar strength is about 45% heavier than titanium, so titanium can be said to have the advantages of high strength and lightness. In addition to being light and strong, titanium is also corrosion resistant. When titanium is in contact with oxygen, an oxide film (titanium dioxide) is formed, which can protect titanium from strong acid and alkaline substances.

So this kind of metal is quickly favored by various countries, adding other elements on the basis of titanium to make a titanium alloy, which is widely used in aerospace, navigation, submarine and medical industries.

However, titanium alloys have poor process performance and difficult cutting processing. In hot processing, it is very easy to absorb impurities such as hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon, and the production process is complicated. Therefore, the industrial production of titanium only started in 1948. In the mid-1960s, titanium and its alloys have been used in general industries, such as making electrodes in the electrolysis industry, condensers in power stations, and heaters for petroleum refining and desalination.

In recent years, with the improvement of process technology, titanium has been increasingly used in general civilian industries, especially pure titanium products, and it has become popular in the market, entering thousands of households, such as titanium cups, titanium tableware, titanium pots, and titanium racks. Mirror frames, titanium jewelry, etc.

Pure titanium metal itself is relatively single in composition, almost free of other heavy metal elements; and titanium is a very biophilic metal, and titanium alloy implants in the human body will not produce mutual repulsion. Titanium is a representative of healthy metals. Therefore, titanium is actually very suitable for making cooking utensils and dining utensils.

And the editor thinks that titanium is the most suitable for making thermos cups.

As we all know, ordinary stainless steel or other metal insulated cups cannot hold beverages, and a metallic taste will be precipitated; and the corrosion resistance of titanium makes it possible to hold beverages in titanium cups, even without fear of super acidic vinegar.

Secondly, the titanium surface is protected by an inert oxide film, which can make the cup play a bacteriostatic and fresh-keeping effect. It can store liquids better than ordinary thermos cups, and will not deteriorate for a long time.

I have to mention that the titanium vacuum flask is very light and can meet the requirements of modern busy elites.
